Drug addiction and crime have become a major problem in the state of Louisiana.  As of June 30, 2007, the adult population at state and local correctional facilities in Louisiana was 36,786.  Approximately 30% of these inmates were incarcerated for drug offenses (as their most serious offense), according to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.  As of April 16, 2007, there were 38 drug courts in Louisiana that had been operating for more than two years.  Unfortunately, the majority of these individuals are condemned to a never ending life cycle of crime and drug addiction because they never receive an effective drug rehab program.  Drug rehab is the only real solution to this problem and for Louisiana residents there is now hope for a brighter drug and crime free future.
